JOB SUMMARY: Establish and maintain effective accounting policies and internal controls related to logistics, quality control, food safety and other service related operations to include the following areas:

• Purchasing and payables (expense reporting)
• Fruit inventory control
• Fixed assets
• Revenue recognition for services
• Cost center reporting

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. Accounting: Perform monthly closing processes, analysis and audit schedules related to logistic operations. Oversee, review and analyze fruit inventory transactions for proper accounting treatment and compliance with established internal controls, including daily inventory reconciliation. Develop, coordinate, and distribute management reports including key indicator and scorecard reporting. Such reports will include sales and margin analysis for services, cost center reporting – budget vs. actual vs. prior year, fixed vs. variable analysis of distribution costs.
2. Departmental Support: Will support financial and general accounting functions as required. Will assess internal controls. Will work within accounting periods and utilize an accrual process to ensure accurate month-end results. Will assist with the tracking and accounting for fixed asset inventory, acquisitions and disposals.
3. Finance & Distribution Support: Will support these teams during the annual and capital budget process, projects and forecasting in a timely manner to facilitate critical business decisions and to comply with respective deadlines.

4. Process Improvement: Will work with and lead cross-functional teams as required to improve processes as they relate to the accounting function and requisite internal controls.
5. General Responsibilities: Will represent Driscoll in an ethical and professional manner in all interactions with co-workers, growers, vendors, governmental agencies, and customers of Driscoll’s and ensure the confidentiality of all financial, proprietary and confidential information. Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education level: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration
2. Experience: Five years of professional accounting and direct operational and process improvement experience.
3. Technical skills: Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and requisite internal controls. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and experience in using these tools for process improvement.
4. Must demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured environment. Must demonstrate analytical skills. Must have strong organizational skills. Must be able to work independently with little supervision demonstrating the ability to be pro-active and persistent with attention detail. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to communicate to all levels within the organization. Must be able to develop and maintain business partnerships with the Logistics team and related cross-functional groups. Moderate travel (15-20%) and maintaining a valid CA Driver License is required.
