JOB SUMMARY: The Global Research Leader is responsible for connecting knowledge and innovation between Driscoll’s Global research and production development teams. The Global Research Leader will set priorities for applied research projects with global application. This position is supported by and supports our regional agronomy teams and contracted growers throughout the world by communicating progressive ideas and strategies. The Global Research Leader will organize events that facilitate innovation and discovery. This position is responsible for engaging with our research and production teams and our grower community to realize and develop future action plans.
This position will also be responsible for developing and managing the company’s Global Information Network which includes details of proven advanced technological processes and research results.
The ultimate goal of this position is to help our teams to become better informed so innovative strategies will be adapted more quickly into production cycles globally.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: MS or PhD in an agricultural science background is preferred. Broad understanding of agribusiness is required. Must have at least 10+ years of experience working in agricultural research and/or production. Project planning skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills are required. Ability to organize events foster new ideas and improved connectivity. Excellent written and spoken English skills required, Spanish skills preferred. Willingness to travel extensively and internationally is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. General oversight of innovation and knowledge being generated within Driscoll’s areas of production and research globally.
2. Building awareness around innovations within Driscoll’s grower community, regional management and production management teams.
3. Identifying and prioritizing applied research projects that have broad geographic applications, including overseeing the management of such projects.
4. Overseeing the development and expansion of Driscoll’s web based Global Information Network as a valued resource for grower community and Driscoll’s management
5. Facilitating the exchange of knowledge between Driscoll’s and growers and among growers by creating venues for the sharing of information. For example, by leading a study group or facilitating trips to observe specific research or grower trials.
6. Serving as the link between local innovation and global application through human interaction and facilitating flow of information.
7. Identify opportunities to fill technology gaps by leading and motivating experts on competitive intelligence tracks.
