JOB TITLE: Production Assistant and Weekly Forecaster Specialist

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor / District Forecasting

JOB LOCATION: Central Mexico

JOB SUMMARY
Monitor production fields to collect information to evaluate the development, production and fruit quality and performance of the producer. Anticipate, detect and respond to phytosanitary problems, nutritional, varietal and reproduction. Monitor the quality of the plant that the producer receives. Follow-up the development of transplanted plant as well as the practices of establishment. Generate information to make decisions for the delivery of replanting in order to comply with the planting program set. Main source of communication with the producer, to provide to their needs as well as diffusion through the extension program. Coordinate communication between the pack-out and producer to gather information that will generate short-term forecasts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Locate properties where the plantations should be established.
Follow up the progress of the land preparation.
Give support to the distribution to the nursery plant, as well as monitoring the quality of it.
Follow up the development of plant after transplanting, to generate information that permits to calculate the amount of variety to replant areas where it is required.
Audit the fields for compliance with the established development plan; compile information to adjust the parameters specified in the planting program.
Monitor the fields to detect and predict problems in the development of the plant and fruit.
Evaluate and quantify the production and quality as well as coordination of samplers.
Calculate the sample size based on the variability of the plant development in the fields.
Maintain frequent field trips to the area of quality to foresee problems and agree actions.
Generate logs that allow visitors to observe the state of the fields as well as the performance of the producer.
Visits to field trials to determine the potential of new varieties as well as other production areas for adapting knowledge that can be incorporated as new management practices and technologies.
Development and update of fruit ripening models according to the development or release of new varieties and weather conditions.
Disseminate validated information to improve production and fruit quality with special emphasis on the fields with lower performance.
Promote the development of skills and abilities of its staff in charge.
Ensure compliance with planting programs.
Provide timely solutions when problems are detected in the crops.
Generate reports to allow viewing the status of the fields and production.
Generate and approve reports of estimate production in the short term and pack out.
Maintain close contact with departments to provide solutions to growers and foresee problems.
Job interfaces with: Research Staff to exchange information concerning the varieties and technical management which contribute to improving production and quality; Quality Staff to obtain information regarding the degree of quality and type of packaging that is required from producers and affect the estimates of production, as well as in the prevention of problems affecting the quality and fruit marketing;
Nursery Staff to provide feedback on the quality, development and harvesting of the plant; National Team Production Staff to report of field conditions that may affect the volume or the sale of the fruit; Producers to obtain information regarding the technical and cultural management of the crop.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Two years Field Production experience required
University level schooling in Agricultural Engineering or related field necessary
Microsoft Office Suite intermediate level; Excel advanced level (pivot tables, formulas, databases, graphics)
Ability to anticipate and identify technical problems related to farming.
Mexico Driver’s License required
Good oral and written communication English/Spanish
Good interpersonal relationship skills with producers, staff, competition and input suppliers
Experience with Production Planning and Management Information
