JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, directs, and coordinates the financial planning, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, information technology, asset management, real estate, and insurance activities for Driscoll’s of Chile. Will also participate in the development and implementation of key business initiatives including, the grower business model, facility expansion, and the overall business growth model. The position also has a dotted line responsibility to the Driscoll’s Vice President and Controller in the US to ensure that Driscoll’s of Chile is complying with all internal controls, policies, and programs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a related area and/or equivalent work experience required. Eight to ten years of professional experience in the areas of finance, accounting, and information systems is required. Must be be fluent in English and Spanish. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must possess passport/documents to travel to the United States and other countries
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting, Finance and Tax:
Participates in, and coordinates, the preparation and compilation of the annual financial plan. This includes financial modeling, analysis and graphic presentation of both operating and financial data to enhance management's ability to plan and monitoring the key-success factors that management uses to track performance.
Coordinates the development of, and participates in reviewing and approving, the short and long range operating objectives.
Develops, analyzes, and interprets accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and operating effectiveness of the organization.
Directs the collection of financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with DSA group accounting policies.
Directs the management reporting requirements. Serves as the finance expert for technical and analytical guidance in identifying and solving problems
Establishes and maintains a system of internal controls to ensure the safeguarding of company assets; establishes and maintains a Delegation of Authority manual under guidelines established by the DSA Controller’s group
Plans and coordinates the year-end close with the external auditors under guidelines established by the DSA Controller’s group.
Directs tax planning and compliance with all US and Chilean federal, state, local, corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
Directs cash flow forecasting activities under guidelines established by the DSA Treasury group.
Business Process & Procedures:
Evaluates internal business processes and procedures and develops and directs the implementation of process improvement initiatives.
Directs the preparation of all internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary. Adheres to all corporate reporting requirements and deadlines. Evaluates and recommends improvements to the administrative system internal controls.
Participates in and coordinates the formulation of Driscoll’s of Chile policy and procedures. Makes recommendations and offers guidelines that support objectives and improve performance.
Supports relationships with key accounts, industry and trade associations, and representatives of government, public service organizations and vendors as necessary in the overall management of the division. Engages in other outside activities consistent with the company's responsibilities in the community.
Risk Management
Develop plans to meet unexpected situations, new developments and changes in the business environment; evaluates and recommends alternatives to existing procedures and financial reporting; prepares for emergencies; anticipates events, understands the factors and conditions affecting the organization and responds appropriately when these change.
Manages all property and casualty insurance programs under general guidelines established by the DSA Controller’s group. Sets appropriate limits and coverage, markets insurance renewals for competitive bidding, investigates, negotiates, and manages insurance claims.
Coordinates annual assessment of safety and security systems.
Directs the implementation of all the information systems requirements and programs for all Driscoll’s of Chile locations under general guidelines established by the DSA IT group.
